What AI gets wrong about your brand, and who fixes it

AI is describing your brand to shoppers right now. Three mistakes to look for, and why a dashboard alone will not fix them.

Shoppers ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI what to buy, and the answer comes back as a short list with reasons. Those reasons are built from whatever the AI could read about you. When that is old or missing, it says the wrong thing with total confidence.

Here are three mistakes to look for, what usually causes each one, and what the fix looks like. The answers below are examples of each pattern, not quotes about a real store.

1. Wrong stock and sizes

AI says a style is sold out, or only comes in a few sizes, when it is in stock. Often it read an old page, a cached listing, or a product feed that was never updated.

The fix: current sizes and stock in the places AI reads, the product page, its structured data and your feeds, so they all agree.

2. Wrong shipping and returns

AI quotes a delivery window or a returns policy you changed months ago. Policies often live in one help page that AI never connects to the product.

The fix: the same shipping and returns details, stated plainly, on your policy pages, your product pages and every listing.

3. A rival gets your use case

A shopper describes the exact problem you solve, and AI recommends someone else. Often that is not because the rival is better, but because its pages say who the product is for, and yours do not.

The fix: content that spells out who your product is for and what it solves, in the words shoppers use, so AI can match you to that need.

Knowing is not fixing

A dashboard can show what AI says. It tells you that you are missing, then hands you a to-do list. The work, finding the cause, writing the fix, getting it live, checking it worked, still lands on you.

What fixing looks like

Every fix arrives as a draft in an approval inbox: what AI says, why, and the change that corrects it. You approve or edit. Nothing ships without your yes.

The loop

Fixing once is not enough. AI answers drift as models update and rivals change their pages. So the loop runs again: look, fix, approve, ship, re-measure.

Shopthru.ai is an AI agents team that runs this loop across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI, Perplexity and Copilot today, with Instagram and Amazon next.
